‘In short, media training isn’t a luxury—it’s a strategic necessity!’
As our founding duo (Devin Scobie and Kevin Dorrian) near our 30th anniversary, we’ve been reflecting that the charity sector, above all, has been our most regular media and presentation/influencing.
Just this past weekend, we were delighted to sponsor the table gift pens at the annual Cancer Card Ball – and Devin continues in his role – six years and counting – having first-hand experience as Chair of a UK charity.

Charities, of course, operate in an increasingly media-driven world, where public perception can significantly impact funding, outreach and trust.
Let’s face it, nobody has any money these days!
Media and influencing training equips charity staff and spokespeople with the skills to communicate clearly, confidently, and compassionately across various platforms—from live interviews to social media and in the political realm. It ensures that key messages are delivered effectively, avoiding miscommunication or reputational damage.
In times of crisis or controversy, trained media representatives can respond swiftly and appropriately, maintaining transparency while protecting the charity’s integrity.
Media training also helps charities humanise their work, sharing compelling stories that resonate with audiences and inspire action. Whether promoting a campaign, addressing sensitive issues, or celebrating milestones, a well-prepared spokesperson can elevate the charity’s visibility and credibility.
Moreover, journalists often seek articulate, informed voices. Media-trained staff are more likely to be featured, giving the charity a stronger presence in public discourse. This visibility can attract donors, volunteers, and partnerships.
In short, media training isn’t a luxury—it’s a strategic necessity! It empowers charities to advocate for their causes with clarity and impact, ensuring their voices are heard in a crowded media landscape. With the right preparation, even small organisations can punch above their weight and make a lasting impression.
Best of all, we ALWAYS discount heavily for UK charities – it’s just our way of giving something back.
